Pantone’s Rose Quartz and Serenity: Why I’m Loving It!

So, Pantone recently unveiled the Color of the Year, and the winner?  (Drumroll, please…)  Rose Quartz and Serenity!

That’s right, ladies and gentlemen, for the first time, we get not one, but TWO fabulous color choices!  And I’m loving this new direction.

And no, it’s not because of the gender-equality undertones that everyone keeps raving about.  I refuse to make wedding colors into a political issue.

Pantone-Rose-Quartz-and-SerenityWhat thrills me is that the colors are just so darn gorgeous!  And there’s so much you can do with them!  They’re absolutely classic, it’s just hard to go wrong with them.

Over the years, I have paid attention to the Pantone colors of the year.  Some I’ve liked, some I haven’t.  For a while now, it has seemed that they veered much more toward the jewel tones, the bold and trendy colors that made some sort of unique statement — emerald, turquoise, orchid, fuchsia, chili pepper.

Some I have even kinda hated (sorry, Pantone) — I mean, tangerine?  Not many people look all that great in orange, guys.  And mimosa?  Basically mustard yellow, not exactly flattering in general.  Not to mention, those are hard colors to pair up with something.

And last year’s marsala, while an interesting color, wasn’t one people were particularly enthusiastic about.

So, now we come to rose quartz and serenity.  And finally, I can claim I actually LOVE Pantone’s choice!  Two more classic colors you cannot find — unless maybe it’s black and white.  😉

The current trend is a return to pastels, and I have always had a weakness for pastels personally.  I like the soft, airy, dreamy feel you can create with these colors.  After all, a wedding is a fantasy, right?

Not to mention, they’re both pretty pair-able colors.  Heck, you can even pair them up with each other!

And maybe I’m weird to focus on this, but I like the names.  They evoke calm and peace and even romance.  (And okay, yeah, the nerd in me was totally thinking of a certain favorite sci-fi TV series when I saw the word “serenity.”  But I swear, that has nothing to do with why I love the color.  🙂 )

I can’t wait to see how brides and grooms use Rose Quartz and Serenity.  Here are just a few things to inspire you.
