The temperatures are cooling. The sun is going down earlier and rising later. The leaves are turning colors. The air is crisp and has a wonderful bite to it. That’s right, it is autumn, my friends!
Today is the autumnal equinox, the first official day of fall, so in lieu of my usual Wedding Wish-List Wednesday, I thought I would inspire brides in a different way — with a little fall wedding inspiration.
In looking for some good fall wedding inspiration, I must admit I found it was far too easy! There were so many things that could be included here, this barely scratches the surface. I could probably fill a month’s worth of blog posts just on fall weddings.
This time of year is amazing for weddings! Lots of beautiful weather, tons of colors and textures, the start of a festive holiday feel all around. It’s perfect. You can do anything from the ever-popular rustic country charm to glittering elegance — and everything in between.
From the food — like squash soup, pumpkin pie, apple cider, and hot chocolate (not to mention the wedding cake; I recommend a spice cake for autumn) — to the bouquets — which can include things like pinecones and autumn leaves — there are lot of things to get creative with.
The colors are just incredible, for a start. Reds, oranges, yellows, and you still get some green. So many natural hues, creating so many color palette options. Honey golds, burnt oranges, chocolate browns, deep reds and burgundies. You can’t go wrong just keeping it classic!
I personally love this dusty blue and burgundy palette.
Not to mention this fabulous merlot and indigo combination.
One that really caught my eye was this incredible teal and copper wedding palette. Absolutely beautiful!
And of course, you can soften the mood and go with something more muted, subtle, and incredibly romantic. Soft plums, dusky rose hues, metallic bronze, gold, and copper.
I loved this particular mood board, which boasts a color combination of espresso, pewter, caramel, and gold.
Or this “cider and spice” one.
Or heck, go all-out autumn glam and let the sparkle come out!
The bouquets can be equally an array of colors, all by themselves!
Not to mention the centerpieces. From florals to gourds!
And speaking of gourds…we’ve all seen the memes that make their rounds on Facebook and the like whenever autumn starts to show itself. You know, the “Brace yourself, pumpkin-flavored everything is coming.” I say, it’s fall. Pumpkins are part of the deal. Embrace the pumpkin!
Seriously, there are so many things you can do with pumpkins. Serve soup in little pumpkin bowls. Have the flower girls tossing their petals from hollowed-out pumpkins. Include mini-pumpkin accents in your bouquet! Heck, I even saw one bride who blinged out her pumpkin, and it was adorable.
And outdoor weddings are still entirely possible in the fall!
And I loved this table runner of autumn leaves — which you can totally do with you aisle runner as well!
Of course, you can certainly bring the outside in with you as well! Festoon your ceremony or reception venue (or both!) with foliage to match the glory outside.
Like I said…autumn is a great time of year for weddings!
